On December 1st, 1918, the Union of Transylvania with Romania took place. The announcement was made in Alba Iulia in the presence of over 1200 officials from 27 Romanian Committees, at 12 in the afternoon.
The first unification attempt was made between 1599 and 1601, under the rule of Mihai Viteazul. Also known as Mihai I of Wallachia, he managed to unite Moldavia, Transylvania and Wallachia, bot not for long. Shortly after his death, in 1601, the unification was canceled.
